“Animals on the Farm – My Touch Picture Book” by Franziska Jaekel is a touch picture book for the very young. It is recommended for children up to the age of 2.
You are probably thinking: “Finally, she is introducing a book that is also suitable for her son’s age group.”
Don’t worry! Besides “The Little Prince” we also read age-appropriate books together.
Here I would like to introduce you to one of our tactile picture books.
Animals on the Farm – My Touch Picture Book
It has rounded corners, the pages are nice and thick and sturdy and don’t get soft every time someone drools. Even the front and back are padded. This means that the book can be handled a little roughly without it breaking.
At first glance, a suitable starter book for our little rascal, who was slowly algeria mobile database starting to become interested in books, but still explored a lot with his mouth.
What is it about?
Although there is no continuous story here, animals on the farm * and their young are introduced. Cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, ducks and dogs are presented with a suitable rhyme that can be found either way.

What can the child feel when reading this book?
Let’s start with the first pages, which show the cow and calf. You can feel the cow’s soft fur; the calf at least has spotty glitter daisies.
The 3rd and 4th pages with the sow and black spotted piglets (the spots are also fluffy) made some worried parents jump up. Why? The sow is standing in mud. There is no real mud in the book, of course, but there is glue. Some are worried that the children could get the glue in their mouths. All I can say is: We always look at books with our son and could have intervened if he had tried to lick making a mobile messaging app the glue or something similar, but that never happened. After a few months, the glue is just fuzzy from constant touching and only sticks very slightly.

On page 5, the chicken’s red comb glitters just a little; you can’t be numbers really feel anything here, but you can feel the soft fluff of the 3 chicks on page 6.
My favorite page: number 7 with the sheep and its warm, thick wool. The lamb on page 8, on the other hand, is rather disappointing, because there is nothing to feel here, just to look at: the bluebells glitter like the chicken on page 5.
Same thing on page 9: The duck’s beak and feet are just glittering again… Shouldn’t this be a TOUCH book? At least the raindrops that fall on the ducklings on the next page are decorated with spotty glitter dust, just like the daisies on the calf. Not exactly original.
